SUMMARY:

Comprises all the standard automotive transmission Technicians skills plus remove & replace (R&R) transmission duties on front wheel drive vehicles of all makes & models, both domestic & foreign brand names.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned as and when necessary.

    * Perform and demonstrate abilities to remove and replace (R&R) Front wheel drive vehicle transmissions
    * Perform and demonstrate abilities to remove and replace (R&R) on all domestic and import brand vehicle transmissions
    * Correctly diagnose and then repair major transmission and on-vehicle leaks
    * Correctly diagnose, remove & replace all non-transmission repairs (i.e. u-joints, mounts, switches etc)
    * Repair & replace axle boots, etc.
    * Maintain productivity goals as outlined for the job position (over 80% & up to 110% average productivity)
    * Perform various other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    * Applicants must have a minimum of nine months demonstrated experience as an R&R Technician, along with having graduated high school with a diploma or obtained a GED equivalent.
    * Additionally any ASE appropriate certifications are a plus (not required).

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    * A good verbal & written command of the English language is desirable.

REASONING ABILITY:

    * Be aggressive & quality driven in getting these jobs completed, following RMI standards & principals of work
    * General aptitude and great positive attitude is required
    * Be an all around team player/member with a can-do-anything attitude

    * Disassembly of vehicles (cars & trucks)
    * Removal of vehicle transmissions
    * Troubleshooting vehicle problems
    * Repair and replacement of parts as required
    * Ability to maneuver 50-100lb transmissions using company supplied handling equipment
    * Ability to use standard mechanical hand tools
    * Ability to use a personal computer and telephone, and work with Management and Technicians on the garage floor
